Carteret Mayor Calls For Resignation Of Arrested Vice Principal

CARTERET – Mayor Dan Reiman was “shocked and appalled” by reports of the arrest of a Carteret High School vice principal on a child pornography charge.

Nicholas Sysock, 53, of Rahway, has been charged with one count of possessing child pornography and made his initial appearance in federal court yesterday.

According to court documents, Sysock allegedly purchased DVDs containing child pornography from a company in Canada.

“I applaud the Board of Education and school administration for swift action in immediately suspending him and barring him from school grounds,” Reiman said. “These types of predatory offenses which target the most innocent and vulnerable members of society our children, are particularly heinous.”

Reiman called for Sysock to “immediately resign his position within the Carteret School system” and urged the school board to “take whatever action necessary to terminate his employment” if he does not.

The charge against Sysock is merely an accusation; he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
