CLARK — Fifth graders in Mrs. Holcomb’s language arts class the Frank K. Hehnly School in Clark read short descriptive writing pieces to Miss Parlavecchio’s third grade class at as a Halloween treat. The fifth graders were given hidden pieces of candy in an envelope to take home and describe the best way they could without naming the treat. They came back to school and put the third graders to the test! The fifth graders wrote things such as; “It comes in a pack with two sticks, it’s chocolate with a cookie inside, there is caramel on top… Can you guess my candy?” Third graders then wrote their guesses on sticky notes and waited till all the fifth graders read their writing. At the end, the students gave their guesses and the fifth graders revealed their candy answers. Fifth grader Vito Cassano is pictured above, reading his piece to the assembled classes.
