Police Arrest Man Who Allegedly Sold Cocaine At Perth Amboy Bar

PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested a 22-year-old Perth Amboy man who was allegedly selling cocaine inside a bar on Fayette Street Friday night, officials announced today.

Miguel Angel Ponce-Chanez was charged with possession of cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute, & possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone. Judge Maria Del Valle-Koch set bail at $25,000 with no 10 percent option.

At approximately 11:54 p.m. on Oct. 19, members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau conducted a check at the Club 41 Bar at 329 Fayette Street. They arrested Ponce-Chanez and recovered ten bags of cocaine packaged for individual sale. The seized drugs are worth approximately $100, according to authorities.

Detective David Guzman led the investigation.

The charges against the defendant are merely accusations; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
