CLARK — Third grade students in Miss Koddenberg’s Gifted & Talented Program in the Clark Elementary Schools have been studying their unit of pioneers and Lewis and Clark. Students have been learning about why Lewis and Clark went west in search of new land, what they discovered, who they traveled with, and what necessities were brought with them.

Students are currently beginning their covered wagon projects. They each are receiving the materials to build their own covered wagon that they may color and design anyway they want as if they were put into a pioneer’s shoes and asked to explore new land. The third graders each received popsicle sticks, skill sticks, a brown paper bag, and cardboard as their materials to construct their wagon.
