CLARK — Students in Krista Chapman’s sixth grade mathematics class at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark work together to find equivalent fractions, or two fractions that have the same value. Students manipulate tiles with the numbers 0-9 around the board until ten blank spaces are filled and all five fractions are equivalent. Pictured above are students Nicalina Del Rosario, Jacquiline David, and Alexa Almeida. With the new flexible block scheduling in Kumpf Middle School students now have 80 minutes of mathematics each day. Longer periods allow students to engage in collaborative learning activities such as the one shown above. (Photo courtesy of Clark Public Schools)
