CLARK — Students in Nicole Parlavecchio’s third grade class at Frank K. Hehnly Elementary School in Clark are learning about equivalent names during Everyday Math. These students were caught taking turns at the white board while trying to find equivalent names for the number 30. Student JD Juzefyk hands off his marker to Gina Peterpaul after having contributed his equivalent name on the white board while the other students are still brainstorming ideas. Students were writing things such as; 30 tally marks, 30 balloons, 20 + 10 = 30, 40 – 10 = 30, the word “thirty”, etc. In the background, from left to right, are Bobby Radovonic, AnnDee Jennings, Matthew Cassidy, Katharine Hall.
