19-Year-Old’s Death Being Investigated As Apparent Homicide

NEW BRUNSWICK — Police are actively investigating what appears to be the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Anthony A. Caputo, director of the New Brunswick Police Department, announced today.

The investigation began after police received a 9-1-1 call at 9:27 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, alerting them to the shooting at a house on Robinson Street in New Brunswick.

The victim, whose name was not released by authorities, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead at 10:26 p.m.

The results of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office were not immediately available.

A preliminary investigation by Detective Kenneth Abode of the New Brunswick Police Department and Investigator Scott Crocco of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has determined that the shooting does not appear to be a random act.
