CLARK — To kick-off the first unit in Miss Franko’s seventh grade life science classes at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark, students learned all about the microscope. To practice the different parts of the microscope and how to use them, the students worked in groups and rotated around the classroom to different stations. In the picture above three of the different stations can be seen. Victoria Gulbin and Bailey Latza are pictured at the top left. At this station the students used internet websites and the interactive Smart Board to quiz themselves on the different parts of the microscope. Below that picture Norberto Diaz, Shannon Lavan, and Samantha Pedicine are at a different station where they were asked to match the different parts of the microscope with the definition that went along with it. Lastly, in the picture on the right Ty Kaulfers and Carly Ciccia are looking through the microscopes at prepared slides to practice the skills needed when handling microscope equipment. In this activity the students were able to move around the room while also practicing what they have learned about the microscope. (Photo courtesy of Clark Public Schools)
