PERTH AMBOY – The city’s Democratic Party organization recently held a breakfast for Perth Amboy senior citizens at Grace Lutheran Church.

Congressman Frank Pallone and Assemblyman John Wisniewski, who chairs the Democratic State Committee, addressed approximately 125 seniors who came. U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez spoke by phone while on his way back from Washington D.C. on an early morning train.

“Special thanks to Pastor H. Wayne Brady of Grace Lutheran Church in Perth Amboy and retired Middlesex County Freeholder Jane Brady for hosting this wonderful event for our seniors,” said Perth Amboy Democratic Chair Leslie Dominguez Rodriguez said. “It is always nice to know that I can reach out to Democrats in our community when I can’t rely on our current Mayor who calls herself a Democrat. She showed up towards the end of the event after the Congressman and Assemblyman were already gone to shake hands.”

Dominguez Rodriguez stressed to the seniors that “the real Democratic team is President Obama/Biden, Senator Menendez, Congressman Pallone and Middlesex County Freeholders Ron Rios and James Polos along with Surrogate Kevin Hoagland.” She also reminded the audience that five Democrats are running for mayor.

The Perth Amboy junior and teen Girl Scouts helped out with the breakfast to earn their senior community service badges. Also volunteering were the Women of the Moose and many Perth Amboy Democratic Committee members.

Also in attendance were Middlesex County Democratic Party Chairman Peter Barnes, County Clerk Elaine Flynn and Sheriff Millie Scott, Councilman Fernando Gonzalez and retired councilman Bob Sottilarro.

CWA Local 1082 President Alberto Hernandez and mayoral candidate Billy Delgado attended with their mothers, who are both retired public employees.
