PERTH AMBOY — Authorities are actively investigating the death of a Perth Amboy man who apparently was stabbed on a city street late Sunday night, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Chief Benjamin Ruiz of the Perth Amboy Police Department announced.

Deny Santana-Delora, 20, was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick at 2:05 a.m. on Sept. 24 after being stabbed on Madison Avenue between Market and Smith streets in Perth Amboy.

The results of an autopsy being performed by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Officer were not immediately available.

Police began an investigation after receiving a 9-1-1 call on Sept. 23 at 11:12 p.m., alerting them to the apparent stabbing.

Investigator Jeffrey Temple of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Gilberto Simao of the Perth Amboy Police Department are investigating.

While the motive for the stabbing remains under investigation, police determined that it was not a random act.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Investigator Temple of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-732-745-3373, or Detective Simao of the Perth Amboy Police Department at 1-732-442-4400.
