CRANFORD – This fall, Union County College will be offering several new classes for real estate professionals or others who want to better understand real estate or transition into a real estate career.
Fundamentals of Commercial Real Estate Finance, Part 1 provides a thorough introduction to the world of commercial real estate finance. Students will learn how to perform and interpret key real estate financial calculations, the cash flow model and how to assess a mortgage loan investment. This class also helps understand how financial institutions underwrite a loan and how a borrower can negotiate a better deal. Students will learn how lease terms affect cash flow and real estate values, and how leverage affects an investor’s return on investment. This course provides a perfect opportunity to enhance existing business knowledge or to provide information to help with a transition into a new career. This is a 10 hour class that meets Wednesdays Oct. 3 – 31 from 6–8 p.m. on the Cranford campus and tuition is $150.
The other new class, Continuing Education for Real Estate professionals, meets the new requirement of all New Jersey real estate license holders, to complete 12.5 hours of continuing education in real estate in order to qualify for license renewal in 2013. The requirement insures that every agent is fully informed about any changes in real estate law and practice that may have occurred since the student obtained his/her real estate license. Upon completion, students will be able to serve the public and the profession with the latest information, thereby maintaining a good professional reputation. Tuition for this class is $250 and it will be offered on two consecutive Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m., on the following dates:
- Friday Sept. 28 and Oct. 5
- Friday Oct. 12 and 19
- Friday Nov. 9 and 16
