MIDDLESEX COUNTY – Middlesex County’s annual auction of cars, heavy equipment, bicycles, office furniture and computer supplies will start at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24 and end at 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30.
The auction is divided into two categories. One is for automobiles, trucks, busses, construction equipment and related miscellaneous items. The second category is for office equipment, office machines, office furniture, computers, furniture, and miscellaneous items.
“We were pleased to have had a great response to last year’s auction,” said Freeholder Director Christopher D. Rafano. “With so many different types of items available, we expect this year to be equally successful.”
“Having the auction online helps us to reach more people,” said Freeholder Carol Barrett Bellante, chair of the county’s Finance Committee. “By using an online auction, we have been able to draw from a larger geographic area than our traditional auctions attracted.”
Bidders can visit www.usgovbid.com and scroll down to the Middlesex County auctions to view photos and read descriptions of the vehicles and pieces of heavy equipment up for auction. Descriptions of the office and computer equipment, furniture and electronics are online as well.
Bidders must electronically register at the web site before bidding. The process is similar to other online auctions. Bidders may increase their bid amounts throughout the seven days of the auction.
County officials strongly encourage all bidders to inspect the items before bidding. Everything is sold as is. All sales are final.
The items are available for in-person inspection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 24 and Tuesday, Sept. 25.
The cars and heavy equipment can be viewed at the county’s Central Vehicle Complex on Apple Orchard Lane in North Brunswick.
The office and computer equipment and smaller items can be viewed at Building 216 on the Middlesex County College campus, 2600 Woodbridge Avenue in Edison.
All payments must be made by cash, cashier’s check, money order or wire transfer made payable to Auction Liquidation Services.
Merchandise must be removed between Oct. 1 and Oct. 5 with a paid receipt. Titles and keys will be available on site at the Middlesex County Central Vehicle facility. No titles or keys will be given out without a paid receipt from the auctioneer. No exceptions. Operating hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
