PERTH AMBOY – On Thursday, Sept. 13, members of the Perth Amoy Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau arrested Weslie Orengo, 29, after an alleged drug transaction with Vidal Garcia-Gonzalez, 31.
Police recovered a bag of cocaine from the Honda Accord Garcia-Gonzalez was operating after he gave them consent, authorities said. Garcia-Gonzalez was also placed under arrest. Police seized an additional 210 grams of cocaine, $1,494 in cash and numerous narcotic paraphernalia used to package cocaine for distribution from Garcia-Gonzalez’s basement apartment on Washington Street.
Garcia-Gonzalez was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of over 5 ounces of cocaine with the intent to distribute (a crime of the first degree), possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park (Lucey Center Park) and within 1000 feet of a school zone (Anthony V. Ceres School) and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Judge George M. Boyd set bail at $75,000 with no 10% option and the requirement of a bail source hearing.
Orengo was charged with possession of cocaine and Boyd set bail at $5,000.
The total street value of the drugs seized is approximately $20,000, according to police.
