LINDEN – Police arrested a 57-year-old Linden man on Tuesday who allegedly stole an iPad computer tablet from his employer.

Barry E. Javick was charged with third degree theft and released on a summons pending a court date.

Officers met the theft victim, a 47-year-old woman who owns a day spa on South Wood Avenue, at a house on the 300 block of Lafayette Street shortly before 10 p.m. on Sept. 18. She told the officers that her iPad tablet had been stolen from her business earlier in the day, and an Apple store employee tracked it to the Linden home.

Officers spoke to the residents, who initially denied any knowledge of the computer device, valued at $800. However, after the victim identified Javick as one of her employees, he admitted that he had the tablet in his basement and was planning to return it to the victim at a later time, police said.

The charge against Javick is merely an accusation; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
