MIDDLESEX COUNTY – The Raritan Valley Chapter of Hadassah has announced several upcoming events.
Mitzvah of Love Luncheon
Raritan Valley Chapter of Hadassah will continue their “YEAR OF THE WOMAN” theme with a special, sparkling Mitzvah of Love Luncheon celebrating “I AM WOMAN”. Barbara Littman and Sarri Singer, two accomplished, driven, and most successful women, will enlighten the audience on their journeys in the benevolent, business, and philanthropic worlds. Celebrated also will be four of the chapter’s matriarchs – Shirley Greene, Sarah Grow, Sylvia Kirshner, and Tillie Pass – who continue to dedicate themselves to Hadassah. Sunday, October 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Congregation Ohr Torah. Couvert: $45; suggested donation $200. L’Dor V’Dor Apple Picking
Come celebrate autumn by picking apples with your Hadassah L’Dor V’Dor (young women’s group) family! On Sunday, October 14, at 12:00 noon, meet at Rosedale Park, on Federal City Road in Hopewell for picnic lunch. Then turn the corner for Family Fun Festival at Terhune Orchards, 330 Cold Soil Road, Princeton (Phone: 609-924-2310). Activities include: apple and pumpkin picking, wagon rides, corn maze, animal barnyard, live music, and more! Pony rides available for an additional fee. BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch) Families welcome! On Sunday, November 18, at 11:00 a.m. Raritan Valley Chapter of Hadassah will hold its annual Chai Brunch. The speaker will be Philip Cantor of the Jewish Historical Society. The topic is “Jewish Story Tellers.” The brunch will be at the home of Judy and Paul Rosen, 3 Eagle Road, North Edison. Cost is $18 and a Sponsor is an additional $10. Chicks with Sticks
Chicks with Sticks will hold the next meeting on Wednesday, October 17, at 8:00 p.m. at 118 Donaldson Street, Highland Park. We make hats for preemies, children with cancer, and American and Israeli soldiers. Everyone is welcome. Assistance is given to those new to knitting or crocheting. All you need to bring is size 7 and 8 knitting needles. It is best to have bamboo needles as they are easier on your hands. Bring double pointed and/or round needles if you want to learn to knit with them. Yarn and instructions will be provided.
