JCC Presents An Afternoon Of Opera & Showtunes

EDISON – The Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County will present soprano Rebecca Stone and baritone Richard Cassell of Capitol Heights Lyric Opera on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. The singers will perform selections from Bernstein, Gershwin, Sondheim, Broadway, opera, the Shtetl and more.

Cassell has performed over 100 opera roles, ranging from the comic (Gianni Schicchi, Dulcamara, Bartolo, Don Pasquale) to the dramatic (Scarpia, Rigoletto, lago). He has sung with St Petersburg Opera, New York City Opera and others, and is the artistic director of Capitol Heights Lyric Opera.

Stone has sung Rosina in “The Barber of Seville,” Angelina in “La Cenerentola,” Carmen, Cherubino, Donna Elvira and Dorabella with a variety of companies. Her repertoire ranges from opera and song to theater and she has performed over 70 concerts of Jewish Love Songs and Immortal Love Songs in the tri-state area this year.

Cost is $8 for JCC members and $11 for non-members. Prices go up October 12th to $11 for members and $14 for non-members. Send your check payable to the JCC to 1775 Oak Tree Road, Edison, NJ 08820.
