Perth Amboy Police Arrest Alleged Drug Dealers

PERTH AMBOY – Police seized ecstasy, marijuana, cocaine and numerous prescription drugs and arrested two men after executing a search warrant at a Charles Street apartment last week.

Jose Alberto Acosta, 27, and Raul Almanzar, 24, were both charged with drug possession, possession with the intent to distribute, possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of Edward J. Patten Elementary School, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.

Members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau and Detective Bureau executed the superior court search warrant on Thursday, Aug. 30. They found and seized 14 Ecstasy capsules (commonly referred to on the street as “Mollys,” four knotted sandwich bags of marijuana totaling approximately 14 grams, one bag of cocaine, $727 in currency, numerous prescription pills and several items of narcotics paraphernalia. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $750, according to police.

Judge Allen Comba set bail at $20,000 with no 10 percent option for each suspect.

The investigation was lead by Det. Carlos Rodriguez.

The charges against the suspects are merely accusations; they are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
