Church To Hold Labor Day Service To Help Unemployed

PERTH AMBOY – “Bring your resume” is the message Cathedral International is telling all unemployed people coming to its Labor Day service, from 9-10:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, at 277 Madison Avenue, Perth Amboy. The annual service will focus on preparing prospective employees with resume writing skills and provide an inspiring message.

“The unemployed, underemployed and employed will benefit from this service as it will prepare attendees to achieve personal, financial and spiritual goals,” said Cathedral’s senior pastor, Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr.

New Jersey’s unemployment rate rose from 9.4 percent in July 2011 to 9.8 percent in July 2012 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Harold Wirths, New Jersey Labor Commissioner said that the U.S. Bureau’s numbers are preliminary and he pointed out that New Jersey has seen private-sector job growth in nine of the past 11 months. Cathedral International joins New Jersey’s Department of Labor and numerous other organizations all providing assistance to the unemployed.

Cathedral’s Career Ministry is coordinating the Labor Day service, which is free for all to attend. Those seeking employment are requested to bring their resume to the service.
