CRANFORD – Union County College is offering three new technology classes this fall to teach important features and functions on iPads, Macs, and Android-powered devices. The popularity of these new technologies is seemingly unstoppable and these classes will help you get smarter with your tech devices. Classes are taught by technology experts and class sizes are limited so there is no need to wait in long lines to ask your questions.
For anyone with an iPad, the iPad Basics class will get you up to speed on the most popular iPad functions and apps. This class will cover the following: Contacts, YouTube, Messages, Calendar, Reminders, Maps & Compass, Photobooth, App Store, Camera, iTunes, Photos, and Music. You will also learn the smartest way to use your iPad and how to use PC Free Set Up, Sync and how to secure iPads using passcode lock. This class will be offered on Sundays from 10 a.m. – noon from Sept. 23- Oct. 28 and will be held at the Elizabeth campus. This 12-hour class costs $149.
If you are a new Mac user or have switched from a PC to a Mac, you should consider Mac Basics. This class will help you explore the following: customizing your desktop, going from PC to using Mac functions, parental controls, limiting computer access, understanding iCloud, files and folders, the dashboard, and launchpad. This class will be offered on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6–8 p.m. from Oct. 15–31 and will be held at the Cranford campus. This 12-hour class costs $149.
Google’s Android Operating System has become a new benchmark for smart phones, tablets and some laptops and Introduction to Android Operating System will provide a great introduction to Android. You will learn to navigate through the OS and browse screens, download and install apps, configure settings used as defaults, backup information, and take advantage of other important Android features. This class will be offered Saturdays from 9–11 a.m. from Sept. 22- Oct. 20 and will be held at the Elizabeth campus. This 10-hour class costs $130.
