Softball Tournament Raises Funds For Children’s Hospital

ROSELLE – The 8th annual Play Ball for Miracles charity softball tournament will be played on Saturday, Aug. 25, at Warinanco Park on the border of Roselle and Elizabeth, beginning at 9 a.m.

Originally scheduled for May, the tournament was postponed due to rain. Men’s and Co-Ed teams are still being accepted, with a registration fee of $250 per team. There is a three-game guarantee, and the tournament will be played according to ASA rules. Co-Ed teams only require three women.

Sparkee, the mascot for the Somerset Patriots professional baseball team, will be on hand to entertain spectators. There will also be a raffle and the Ultimate Game Truck is coming.

All proceeds benefit Children’s Specialized Hospital through Children’s Miracle Network. For more information, visit

Food is being donated by Wakefern, and the tournament is being sponsored by the Elizabeth Firemen’s Federal Credit Union.
