BETHPAGE, N.Y.—MSG Varsity is set to kick off its fall line-up for Friday Night Football with the much-anticipated matchup between Bergen Catholic High School and St. Anthony’s High School. Played under the lights at the Huntington Station campus of St. Anthony’s, the cross-regional game features one of Long Island’s top teams facing off against a New Jersey powerhouse team.

Since MSG Varsity will feature this cross-state game to open the new season of Friday Night Football, the show will deviate from its normal split feed in the first week. Instead, this game will be televised throughout the entire tri-state region. Friday Night Football will air at 7:00 p.m. every Friday night this fall on MSG Varsity, Optimum TV Channel 14.

“We are thrilled to be featuring what should be one of the most exciting match-ups of the fall season in the premiere of this year’s Friday Night Football,” said Michael Lardner, Executive Producer and Senior Vice President, MSG Varsity. “Bergen Catholic and St. Anthony’s are both great teams to watch.”

The team announcing the first game of the 2012 season of Friday Night Football will include Steve Levy, former Don Bosco and Cal Berkeley quarterback, New York Giants great Amani Toomer and MSG Varsity football analyst, Jimmy Cavallo. Also featured will be Mike Quick lending his high school sports expertise for the pre-game, Suzy Stark and Chad Cutler providing all the action directly from the sideline. In keeping with last year’s format, MSG Varsity will continue to broadcast two live matchups simultaneously every Friday.

Following the premiere week, Friday Night Football games will be split into two feeds based on the high school matchups ensuring viewers receive the most relevant game for their area.
