SCOTCH PLAINS—Dave Luciano, a faculty member and recruitment director at Union Catholic, was voted 33rd Grand Knight in his Regina Pacis Knights of Columbus Council #4066 out of Maplewood on July 29. Luciano’s council consists of himself as grand knight; John Becht, faculty member and campus minister at Union Catholic, as deputy grand knight; Dr. Jim Reagan, Jr., assistant principal at Union Catholic, as warden; and Tom Becht, as chancellor.

A member since he was 18, Luciano has always been very involved with the Knights of Columbus. He is the first third generation grand knight ever to appear in his council, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Joe Luciano, and his father, Gary Luciano. Dave’s grandfather, who passed away in 2007, was a former state deputy, heading the Knights of Columbus in the state of New Jersey. Each officer is inducted by a person of his choice and Dave chose to be inducted by his grandmother, representing the profound affect his grandfather had on his role in the Knights of Columbus.

Luciano, along with the other members of his council, will be serving a two-year term. He is excited and proud to be able to keep his family’s name going in the council and to have his good friends by his side, as members of his council.
