PERTH AMBOY – Police arrested four city teens who allegedly fired a paintball gun at a man walking on Stockton Street at midnight on Wednesday, Aug. 8.

Jeuby Batista and Daniel Pacheco, both 18, and Angel Torres and Steven Espinal, both 19, were taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose. Judge Maria Del Valle Koch set bail at $35,000 each with no 10 percent option.

The victim of the attack was walking south on Stockton Street approaching Smith Street when he saw a black Nissan Altima with tinted windows make a sharp left turn towards his direction. The occupants of the car rolled down the front passenger side window, and pointed what appeared to be a firearm in his direction. In fear for his life, the victim ran away as he heard several apparent gun shots coming from the vehicle. The victim said he immediately took cover and called police. He was not injured during the attack.

Police received a description of the suspects’ vehicle and took the four men into custody following an investigation. A Black Spider M1 paintball gun was recovered.

The charges against the defendants are merely accusations; they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
