India Day Parade Planned For Sunday

EDISON – The Oak Tree Indian Business Association will hold an India Day Parade on Sunday, Aug. 12, beginning at 1 p.m.

The parade will start to form up at 12:30 p.m. at Grove Avenue and Oak Tree Road, near 1862 Oak Tree Road, Edison. The parade route will start there, continue on Oak Tree Road and end at the old Pathmark at Oak Tree Center (Lower Level), 1655 Oak Tree Road, Edison.

Actress Suhasi Goradia, best known for her role in the drama “Yehan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli” which aired on Zee TV, will be the parade’s grand marshal. Many elected officials and community leaders are expected to march in the parade, which will feature beautifully decorated floats, bands and community groups. The review stand will be set up Near 1682 Oak Tree Road.

There will be a cultural program from 3 p.m. onwards at Oak Tree Center (Upper Level), 1655 Oak Tree Road, Edison.

An India Mela Gala Banquet Dinner is planned for Monday, Aug. 13, from 6:30 p.m. at Royal Albert’s Palace, 1050 King Georges Post Road, Fords. Tickets are priced at $30, $60 and $100. Call 1-732-661-1070 for information.
