CRANFORD?The Friends of the Cranford Public Library will present a “History of Jazz” as interpreted by trumpeter/flugelhornist/vocalist Gordon James on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue.

James, accompanied on piano, will trace the history of jazz while touching upon the giants of the genre. The program will feature musical selections spanning the entire history of jazz. James has performed with the Thad Jones Mel Lewis Big Band, the Harry James Tribute Band, vocalist Bobby Caldwell, saxophonists Eric Kloss and Paul Winter, cellist David Darling, the Soul Survivors, Johnny “Guitar” Watson, Angela Bofill, and Chuck Loeb.

Admission to the program is free and all are welcome.
