Trudi’s Corner: Inappropriate Language Revisited

By Trudi Cunningham

Would you believe that there was a comment made on T.V. about cursing and how many consider it inappropriate? Maybe, just maybe, something will actually come of it and those who indulge will realize how crude and ignorant they sound. One particular young man commented now that he is in college he will be more careful. An older woman also remarked that she does make mention of it when she hears it, and some may actually apologize.

Many may believe that I sound like a broken record, but if it makes even one person think twice, it’s a step in the right direction. I’m sincerely curious and want to keep checking to see how much of an impact these comments will make. Did I ever mention that I had charged my husband a nickel whenever he would express himself with one of his sayings that was totally “off the wall?” Would you also believe that he did get the point, and that I was not one to give up in such an incident?

I don’t know about people’s regards and thoughts about the Olympics, but I’m absolutely thrilled. The opening ceremonies are beyond compare with their spectacular displays and wonderful abilities of all involved. I can still remember the ones from 2008 and they possibly may be hard to beat. I know that at some point, they may seem endless, but let’s give credit and support to the magnificent efforts of what it all stands for. Isn’t it exceptional that New Jersey has 19 representatives in various fields of competition? What can be better than that?
