WEST ORANGE – Hundreds of muck-seeking participants will leap headfirst into the filth in pursuit of a world free of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the first MuckRuckus MS Northeast event benefiting the National MS Society.
This regional event, which will be held in New Jersey at Essex County South Mountain Reservation in West Orange, promises to be the filthiest, messiest, dirtiest experience one could have playing in the mud. This 5-mile mucky obstacle course with a shorter option available will challenge the most experienced athlete as well as the fun loving adventure seeker to sludge through a mucky mess to finish the course. MuckRuckus MS is an extraordinary event that will help push forward toward a world free of MS.
The transformation of the Essex County South Mountain Reservation will be unrecognizable for the MuckRuckus MS event. The course will feature obstacles such as the “Dragon Crawl”, “Steeple Chase”, “Rat Run” and the “Thunderstorm”. Participants will get mucky while crossing creeks, climbing ropes, and swinging over muck pits. Let the muck flow when the participants run through the filth to climb through the “Spider Nest”; let them channel their inner kid when swinging over mucky mines on the “Spinner”. The participants will no doubt be covered head-to-toe in muck by the end of the day. This course does not muck around.
MuckRuckus MS is an event designed to push the everyday runner to the extreme. This event is for people who are tired with the mediocre work out and are looking for the next thrilling experience. MuckRuckus MS is a chance to connect with one’s primal instincts while progressing toward a world free of MS. Create a team or fly solo in a competitive or non- competitive division, but take the MuckRuckus MS challenge! Registration is open at MuckRuckusMS.org/Northeast.
Friends, family, and donors are welcome to cheer on their MuckRuckus MS warriors and join in on the mucky festivities. Take your little ones, ages 4-11, into our kid zone to roll in the mucky mess so they can embrace the spirit of MuckRuckus MS. If muck is not your thing; volunteers will be needed for before, during and after the event. Interested volunteers can register at MuckRuckusMS.org/Northeast.
After the race, there will be a celebration at McLoone’s Boathouse.
