Perth Amboy Plans 4th Annual Family Day Community Event

PERTH AMBOY—The city’s 4th Annual Family Day celebration is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event is free and open to all city residents.

Family Day, since it began, has drawn a crowd of over 2,000 people along Sadowski Parkway from High Avenue to Second Street. This year, DJ Bojo will offer a variety of music for all attendees and added to the list of activities will be a children’s petting and feeding zoo.

“We are so grateful for the sponsorship of our local businesses and organizations and the participation of our youth volunteers,” said Mayor Wilda Diaz. “Our families look forward to this event every year now. It’s one of the many free summer fun activities in Perth Amboy that you don’t want to miss.”

Rides and activities will include a Moonwalk, obstacle course, ball crawl, bouncy boxing, jumbo slide, miniature golf, sumo wrestling and a bungee run, rock climbing wall, balloon twister, kayaking, sailing, face painting and petting zoo.

There will be a variety of games and contests, including a water balloon toss, pie-eating contest, beach relay races, carnival games and prizes, raffled bicycles and helmets from the Police Department and more give-a-ways.

In addition, over 30 municipal, county and local organizations will be present including: Office of Recreation, Police and Fire, Raritan Bay YMCA, Middlesex County Youth One-Stop, Friends of the Perth Amboy Public Library, Department of Veteran’s Affair, Happy Home Shelter, VNA, WIC Program, NJ Sharing Network, US Coast Guard and WellCare will be providing blood pressure screenings for the public.
