NEWARK — UFC Middleweight Nick “The Jersey Devil” Catone will appear at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark on Wednesday, Aug. 8. The fighter will sign autographs, take pictures and meet fans throughout the Newark Bears game against the Kansas City T-Bones, which begins at 11:05 a.m.
While in Newark, Catone will throw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch.
Catone debuted in the UFC in 2009 and holds a career 9-3 record. A native of Brick, he graduated from Rider University in Lawrenceville. Prior to that, he attended Brick Memorial High School, where he is a member of the school’s Wrestling Hall of Fame. The southpaw currently holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The 30-year-old also operates Nick Catone’s Mixed Martial Arts Academy, a 5,400 square-foot state-of-the-art training facility where Catone and a team of top instructors host programs in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing, MMA and cross-training.
