UNION COUNTY—State Sen. Nicholas Scutari and Assemblywoman Linda Stender have introduced a joint legislative resolution SCR-123/ACR-158 in support of the “Team USA Made in America Act of 2012” The “Team USA Made In America Act of 2012” would ensure that ceremonial uniforms worn by U.S. athletes are produced in the United States in the future.

“With the United States sending 529 athletes, including 19 from New Jersey to the 2012 Olympics, it is only right that they wear uniforms produced in the United States” said Scutari.

“Not only do our athletes wear these uniforms, but replica’s are sold to the general public at stores and on-line. With our struggling economy, why would we not produce these in our country, and provide much needed jobs for the American worker.” said Stender.

The “Team USA Made in America Act of 2012” has been introduced by Senator Robert Menendez and referred to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation. It is pending consideration.
