State Theatre Presents Jane’s Addiction In August

NEW BRUNSWICK—State Theatre and AEG Live will present Jane’s Addiction – Theatre of Escapists Tour on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 8:30 p.m. The set list features material from their acclaimed album The Great Escape Artist plus classic songs that have not been played in more than 20 years. Tickets range from $49.50-69.50.

The alternative rock pioneers—frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, and drummer Stephen Perkins, along with Chris Chaney on bass—are poised to deliver an immersive theatrical experience.

“We chose to play as many of the great theatres that we could find because we wanted to immerse the audience in a unique experience unlike any they have ever seen at a rock show,” says Farrell. The immersive theatrical experience of the “Theatre of the Escapists” carnival—described by the Dallas Morning News as “a sanctuary for freaks and fetishes”—is captured in a short film now posted at

Jane’s Addiction is known as a pioneer in the music industry for their revolutionary fusion of both alternative and rock music in the mid 1980s, making them the first alternative rock band. Their ground breaking musical style served as an inspiration to an entire generation of notable bands including Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Pearl Jam, and Smashing Pumpkins. They have sold over seven million records in the U.S. alone and have garnered multiple Grammy® nominations.

Opening for Jane’s Addiction on Aug. 12 will be Band of Skulls.
