EDISON – One of the township’s most popular events, “The Fall Family Spectacular,” is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8 from 2–11 p.m., Mayor Antonia Ricigliano and the Edison Council announced. This is the 20th anniversary of the event at Papaianni Park in Edison.

Planned events for this year’s festival include performances by well-known recording artists, a classic cars and motorcycles show, strolling performers, a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, games of chance, dance groups, athletic contests, and much, much more. The two main stages and local stage will offer a variety of entertainment constantly throughout the day. Carnival rides, NWS professional wrestling and the fireworks grand finale will be the main focus for the event. Again this year, the BMX Thrill Show “Hell On Wheels” will perform three times during the event.

Starting promptly at 2 p.m., celebrants will be entertained by a variety of groups, acts and special attractions, tempted to an array of foods from around the world; and treated to an assortment of craft vendors and exhibitors that will please and interest everyone.

The two main stages at the daylong festival will begin with two Edison-based bands. “The Driftwoods” will hit the stage at 2:30 p.m. followed by “Throwing Fitz” at 3:45 p.m.

Opening Ceremonies will kick off the evening portion of the festival at 5 p.m. with Edison Mayor Antonia Ricigliano, high school marching bands, special guests and dignitaries.

The high energy, high entertaining “Joe Bonanno & the Godsons of Soul” will bring you to your feet with classic rock and roll at 5:30 p.m.

This year’s headliner hits the stage at 7:30 p.m. to an expected huge crowd of fans. Township officials aren’t allowed to announce the performer’s identity until July 29 because of contractual obligations. However, they hint that this lead singer is a TV and movie star and that he and his group have sold over 65 million albums and singles worldwide.

Immediately following at 9 p.m. will be a fantastic fireworks display that will light up the night over Lake Papaianni and thrill the thousands in attendance. Closing out the festival at 9:30 p.m. will be classic rock sounds of NJ legend “John Eddie.”

The Recreation Department welcomes all types of food vendors, craft vendors, exhibitors and performers for the upcoming event. For additional information and details, contact the Edison Recreation Department at 1-732-248-7314 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
