RAHWAY — The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating the early Saturday morning stabbing death of a 17-year-old following what is described as a large fight in Rahway, Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow announced.
Police were called to Donald Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on July 7 on reports of a large fight in progress. Officials did not immediately release details about how many people were involved in the altercation or what might have prompted the fight.
During the melee, Jose Pacheco-Holley, 17, was apparently stabbed, Romankow said.
Pacheco-Holley was taken to Rahway Hospital, where he was pronounced at 12:37 a.m. Saturday, said Romankow.
An autopsy was scheduled for Saturday morning as the Task Force and the Rahway Police continued to gather statements and examine potential evidence in the homicide. No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
Union County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person responsible for Pacheco-Holley’s death. Anonymous tips can be submitted to 1-908-645-TIPS or www.uctip.org.
