If you say the name ‘Andy’, I don’t care if you’re a rocker in a band or a rocker on somebody’s front porch, you’re gonna immediately think of only one ‘Andy’…Andy Griffith…

…and sadly, the news just came over the wire that Andy Griffith, our beloved Sheriff Taylor, has passed away at age 86…

Sure, he had his ‘Matlock’ days as well, but we will always think of ‘Mayberry’, and when we think of ‘Mayberry’, we think of Barney and Goober, Opie and Aunt Bee, Miss Crump and Thelma Lou…(and ya’ can’t forget Floyd the Barber…)

In fact, there were a host of characters that come to mind, in a town that seemed so real, partially due to the fact that it was patterned after Andy’s hometown that he grew up in…but it was more than that…

Andy was Andy, no matter what the last name was, and Mayberry did, and still does, exist, in the hearts of so many…

It was a real town with real people, and though the show actually was a spin-off of the Danny Thomas sitcom, ‘Make Room For Daddy’, every moment sprung from those who breathed life into it, everyday, living in that town and believing in it, so that the rest of us could believe in it as well…

God rest ya’ Andy…and thank God for reruns…
