LINDEN – Police arrested two Staten Island women on Tuesday afternoon, who allegedly shoplifted $1,700 worth of air conditioners and infant care products from K-Mart on West Edgar Road.
Omarya Reyes, 42, and Betty Kennedy, 29, allegedly loaded a shopping cart with two air conditioners, cases of baby formula and various infant care products, then left the store without paying for the merchandise. When confronted in the parking lot, Reyes allegedly attempted to run but was quickly apprehended.
Both women were charged with third degree shoplifting. Reyes also had outstanding warrants from Edison, according to Linden police. Bail was set at $2,500 on the shoplifting charge.
The charges are merely accusations; the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
