A specialist in Pulmonary and Internal Medicine, he maintains a private practice in Elizabeth. In his nearly 30 years in medicine, Dr. Rowen’s has served on the medical staffs of Alexian Brothers Hospital, Elizabeth General Medical Center, and St. Elizabeth Hospital, as did his father, Dr. Manuel J. Rowen, who practiced medicine in Elizabeth from the 1950s until 2002. In 2000, Dr. Rowen became part of the medical staff of Trinitas Regional Medical Center when it was formed following the consolidation of Elizabeth General Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Hospital.

We are privileged to have been elected to represent the doctors at Trinitas; they provide valuable and unique services to this community, with years of clinical experience from having treated thousands of patients across a broad range of medical specialties.”
Dr. Rowen’s experience and knowledge have benefitted a number of committees at Trinitas, including the Respiratory Therapy Committee, the Pharmacy Committee, and the Credentials Committee. He has served as Vice President of the Medical Staff (2001-2003), Chairman of the Performance Improvement Committee (2001-2003), and a Member-at-Large of the Medical Executive Committee (2003-2011).
A graduate of Yale University, Dr. Rowen received his MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he later went on to teach as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Rowen has also held other teaching positions, including that of Clinical Professor and Lecturer at Ithaca College in New York, and has taught here at Trinitas. Prior to entering into private practice, Dr. Rowen was the Assistant Director of Medical Service and the Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit at the Bronx Municipal Hospital Center. Dr. Rowen is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and served as Governor for the ACCP in New Jersey from 2000-2004. In addition, he serves as a Public Member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey, District Ethics Committee for Union County, District XII.
Dr. Rowen is married and has a daughter.
