Laurence Harbor Woman Accused Of Assaulting Perth Amboy Police Officer

PERTH AMBOY — On Saturday, June 9, at 11:40 p.m., Perth Amboy Police Officer Emma Cabrera arrested Laurence Harbor resident Marangelly Perez, 28, for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and aggravated assault on a police officer.

Cabrera attempted to clearing a disorderly crowd in the area of Hall Avenue, but Perez allegedly refused to comply with the officer’s directions to clear the area. A short time later Perez allegedly started screaming, yelling, cursing and carrying on, authorities said. Perez then allegedly lunged at Officer Cabrera, sticking her in the face and scratching to the right side of her neck, police said.

Judge Maria Del Valle-Koch set bail at $10,000 with no 10 percent option.

The charges against Perez are merely accusations; she is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
