Metuchen PTO Honors Former Superintendent

METUCHEN — On June 11, the Edgar Middle School PTO Executive Board honored retired Superintendent of Schools Terri Sinatra with the dedication of the school’s Outdoor Fitness Circuit which was installed last fall.

The Edgar PTO raised over $17,000 to purchase the ten-station fitness center. Sinatra’s legacy in the Metuchen Public Schools included the collaborative and open relationship with parent organizations, such as the PTO. Edgar PTO President Kara Harry acknowledged Sinatra for her support and commitment to the children at Edgar Middle School.

The festivities included remarks by Superintendent of Schools Vincent Caputo, musical selections by the Eighth Grade Band, remarks by students, Sam Battaglia, Colin Draper, and Kyle Harry, and the unveiling of a monument stone commemorating Sinatra’s support to the middle school.

In her closing comments, Sinatra recalled her vision of providing unique learning opportunities that promoted healthy living and physical fitness. This PTO project brought this vision to reality as the Fitness Circuit is used extensively by middle school students and the community at large.
