NEWARK — Former wrestling heavyweight champion Sgt. Slaughter will be on hand at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium in Newark on June 21, when the Newark Bears take on the New Jersey Jackals in a Can-Am League contest.
Slaughter, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004, will meet and greet with fans, sign autographs and take pictures before and after the 6:35 p.m. game.
The wrestler is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
“We are excited to welcome Sgt. Slaughter—a fan favorite and symbol of American patriotism—to Newark,” said owner Danielle Dronet.
Newark will also be celebrating Military Night, as the Bears invite those who have served their country to the ballpark to be recognized. The team is offering a 2-for-1 ticket offer to active or retired military personnel with ID.
Tickets are available starting at $10 and can be purchased by going to brickcitybears.com or by calling 973-848-1000.
