NEW YORK – Though the current school year is winding down, Operation Homefront, Tri-State is already preparing for the next one. It’s launching the 2012 Back-to-School Brigade, a program that provides school supplies to military kids.

Through distribution events around the country, military families are given supplies to help them get ready for the upcoming school year. This year, Operation Homefront hopes to raise $75,000 for backpacks and school supplies for 3,000 military children throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

This program can help military families relieve some of the stress and the expense of having to get ready for school. At the events, kids receive a free backpack and enough school supplies to get them started on their first day of school.
