NEW BRUNSWICK-The Auxiliary of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital recently presented a $350,000 donation to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) to support the purchase of two new pediatric critical care transport vehicles and the refurbishment of an existing vehicle.
The donation marks the beginning of the auxiliary’s fulfillment of its $550,000 pledge to support the purchase of pediatric emergency transport vehicles and the expansion of pediatric emergency services at The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at RWJUH.
Auxiliary President Claire Drain presented the check to RWJUH President and CEO Stephen K. Jones, FACHE, and John Hoffman, Esq., Immediate Past Chair of the RWJUH Board of Directors and newly elected chair of the Robert Wood Johnson Healthcare Corp Board, at the Annual Meeting of RWJUH’s Board of Directors.
“It is an honor for us to play a role in the growth and expansion of these critical services,” Ms. Drain says.
Jones notes, “As a major pediatric academic medical campus, we transport some of the most seriously ill children here from other hospitals throughout our state. The emergency pediatric transport ambulances are specially equipped to meet these patients’ needs until they can arrive at our children’s hospital to receive the specialized care they require.”
Jones adds, “Given today’s challenging health care environment, we are deeply appreciative of the generous support we receive from philanthropic organizations like the Auxiliary of RWJUH.”
