Opera New Jersey Performs At Edgar Middle School

METUCHEN — On Friday, June 8, Opera New Jersey presented a performance of Rossini’s Cinderella (La Cenerentola) to Edgar Middle School’s fifth grade class.

Eleven students participated in the opera as actors. Claire Waldron and Molly Weidmaier portrayed Clorinda & Tisbe, Cinderella’s step-sisters. Matthew Murphy played Alidoro, the tutor to the Prince. Jacob Davy, Avi Hogan-Appell, Caleb Rutter and Sydney Scafe played footman and Samantha Dancer, Angelique Dulin, Courtney Little and Rachel Wyetzner played ladies-in-waiting

This production is part of Opera New Jersey’s “Interact with Classics”, introducing students to opera and allowing students to be part of the action, complete with sets and costumes. The Edgar presentation was made possible through an anonymous donor.
