METUCHEN — Come see the work of over 100 artists that signed up for the Junebug Art Festival this year and enjoy live music, interactive events, and other entertainment this evening. Discover what has drawn thousands of visitors to Metuchen on Friday nights in June.
Special events on June 8 include:
- The festival’s first ever Plein Air Painting competition: Plein Air painters are those artists who take their materials outside and create a complete work right there on location/ Once their painting is complete, the art will be hung in VAM Art Gallery (15 Station Place, Metuchen) and voted on by two professional painters and by all who visit. The winner will be announced on the final night of Junebug, June 29 at 8 p.m.
- Make your mark on the Community Art Mural located near the Junebug sculpture
- Check out the Metuchen High School band at the Main Stage (near corner of Main and New streets) from 6 to 7 p.m.
- VAM Art Gallery will be holding an opening ceremony for their new exhibition of American Contemporary Art: “Continuum 2012” on June 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The Junebug festival is held each Friday night in June from 6-10 p.m., and features a wide array of open air exhibits, interactive art events, open mic sessions, and live music performances.
