METUCHEN — On Tuesday, June 5, the Fourth Annual Arts Festival was held at Edgar Middle School featuring student works. The event transformed Edgar’s gymnasium into a gallery, featuring art from every student in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8 as well as woodworking projects and tech lab projects.
Organized by art teachers Jennifer Gumbrecht and Joyce Browning, technology teacher Kevin Sarte, and industrial arts teacher Frank Jones, the show was an effort to combine multiple creative and technical disciplines and allow students, parents, and community members to view a wide range of student talent. The hundreds of products on display ranged from paintings and ceramics, to kites, racecars, and model bridges, to finely crafted wooden shelves and boxes.
Throughout the evening, students performed vocal and instrumental music selections under the direction of music teachers, Robyn Keyes and Stefeny Krombholz. The evening was well attended by an appreciative audience of parents, students, teachers, and community members.
