SCOTCH PLAINS—On June 2, Union Catholic graduated 175 seniors. The Class of 2012 received a total of $18,019,803 in college scholarships and awards. Gabrielle Aquino of Rahway was named valedictorian and Kimberly Esguerra of Union was named salutatorian.
The guest speaker, UC alum Tiffany Wilson ’90 congratulated seniors for all that they already have and will accomplish, and urged them to live lives of service. She spoke of her own life of service as an Assistant Prosecutor in Union County, Board Chair of the Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey Council, and member of the Union Catholic School Consultative Board. She told seniors to “stay true to your values, look beyond yourself to the world around you and ask how you can help.” Valedictorian Gabrielle Aquino echoed these sentiments, saying to seniors, “Don’t ever give up on a life you can be proud of, and try to make an impact on the world and a name for yourself, always staying thankful for the blessings you have received.”
Union Catholic seniors also attended the Baccalaureate Liturgy on Friday, June 1, where Reverend Joseph Mancini celebrated mass.
