RAHWAY — On Thursday, May 31, Rahway High School administrators, guidance counselors, parents, and Honor Roll students gathered to celebrate the achievements of those 123 students who had maintained Honor Roll grades for all three marking periods during the current school year.

This celebration began with Student Government advisors Steven Radler and Donna Gerardo serving students and parents refreshments. Next, Principal John Farinella commended students on their hard work. Over 10% of the student body — 123 students — were on the Honor Roll or High Honor Roll after all three marking periods. Vice-Principal Mark Cantagallo mentioned his hope that number of these students continue to grow so to live out the district motto of “Expecting Excellence;” he also thanked the guidance staff for their support of student achievement.

Each student was presented with a certificate. Afterward, a raffle was held, with gifts that included gift cards, movie tickets, an iPod shuffle, two portable DVD players, and a Kindle e-book reader. Finally, all students who had attained High Honors for all three marking periods received a Rahway High School t-shirt.
