RAHWAY — At great personal cost, Ellen Lurig has dedicated her life to increasing teen’s awareness of the deadly consequences of drinking and driving. Her son, Robert, was killed at age 16 by a drunk driver in Phillipsburg in 1998.
Lurig recently addressed seniors at Rahway High School, explaining in a very personal way how the actions of a drunk driver have impacted her family’s life forever and imploring the students to avoid actions leading to such tragedies. She shared a video of her son’s life and the accident that resulted in his death as well as many personal photos. Students were very moved by her presentation and had an opportunity after the presentation to meet with her personally.
