RAHWAY — On Wednesday, May 23, Rahway Middle School held its second annual Word of the Day Challenge. Sixth, seventh and eighth grade students engaged in a competition that focused on strengthening their vocabulary knowledge and usage.
The first round of the competition was held in the social studies classrooms. The finalists then represented their social studies teacher in the Word of the Day Challenge. In grade level assemblies, students were asked to correctly define a word, its parts of speech and use the word in a sentence. The first place winners for each grade level were awarded a trophy as well as a Kindle. Second and third place winners were awarded trophies and a gift certificate.
