Trudi’s Corner

By Trudi Cunningham

Many times, when reading the paper or watching TV, a particular item will catch my attention and I will make a note of it. I do this with the intention of possibly writing about it for a future column, and I try to do it in a positive way that people may take the hint, and possibly improve a situation for the benefit of people in general.

Anyone or all who may read these columns do know that I constantly harp on the cell phone problems when driving. I can also say it hasn’t really improved too much, because there are still so many absolutely ignoring the law, so I just keep mentioning it.

I do have several gripes beyond this one. How about those who stop in the middle of busy and moving traffic to let someone out of their car, because it may be 10 or 20 feet further to stop at a safer location? Do you know that getting out of the driver’s side of the car with the door open is actually illegal and you would be at fault if an oncoming car were to hit you? I’m someone who does this, but trust me, I’m more than careful. I’ve seen it happen, and do know most people do it as well. Many know the aggravation and inconvenience involved, plus points and money… and lest I forget, insurance.

I do know I have also written about appearance and proper decorum when attending a church function. This is in reference to someone wearing a strapless dress to an event where children were the main focus. Have you heard the expression, “A place for everything and everything in its place”? Maybe it’s not exactly right, but I’m sure you get my drift.
