PERTH AMBOY — Mayor Wilda Diaz invites the residents of Perth Amboy to honor and remember military personnel who gave their lives while serving our country during this year’s Memorial Day parade and ceremony to be held on Monday, May 28.
“We look forward to the participation of local churches and other Perth Amboy organizations to join our efforts in recognizing and remembering the men and women who have served the United States,” said Diaz.
Nearly 70 names have been added to the monument. In addition, this year Diaz will be honoring Joseph Deegan and the late Edmund Hmieleski for their contribution and efforts in organizing the establishment of the monument.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the Public Safety Complex Parking Lot and will proceed to Sadowski Parkway.
The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at Veterans’ War Memorial on Sadowski Parkway
As a reminder to Perth Amboy residents, the City of Perth Amboy offices will be closed Monday, May 28 and there will be no garbage collection on Memorial Day. Trash will be collected on your next regularly schedule pick-up day.
